My first travel to Italy, after the cities and sights, Varenna was wonderful. Serene and transported to the old world Northern Italy with the mountains and the Lake. It was so beautiful it takes your breath away. I was treated like family. Joined by others for dinner. Food was genuine Italian. Invited to a card game at the hotel. I thought Albergo was the hotel owners first name.. 🙂
while searching for hotels in "lake Como Italy" sometimes it says they are in Switzerland. How come? Is there a lake Como there as well or is there a place there with the same name?

Went to Bergamo last summer, used it as a base to visit Como / Bellagio / Varenna,, Garda / Sirmione and then Milano all by train from Bergamo, It was a wonderful short break, and Bergamo's Citta' Alta is also well worth seeing.

Switzerland is nearby, obviously some hotels advertise they are near Como Lake.

Great video, I too like to hold Varenna (or Perledo higher up) as the base whenever I go to northern Italy. The views are simply magnificent!
